It's finally Autumn and that means it's time for delicious and nutritious hot drinks galore! This cardamom cacao milk is perfect if you're in the mood for something thick, creamy, and chocolatey. Plus it's totally packed full of amazing health benefits that will keep you going all day long!
Cardamom, known as the queen of spices, is an herb used very generously in Ayurveda (India's traditional science of life and medicine, aka the sister science of yoga) as a remedy for high blood pressure, indigestion, poor circulation, and inflammation, among many others. It also has anti-depressant qualities, has been shown to relieve anxiety, and improve memory and focus. Plus the taste is out of this world!
By adding maca to the mix, you're giving your body an immune boost (it's packed with so many amazing vitamins and minerals like iron, calcium, zinc, vitamin B's, C, and E), balancing your hormones (also great for menstruation and menopause relief), and gently increasing your stamina and energy levels. So needless to say that's a win.
Cacao is a wonderful superfood that most of us are familiar with. It's health benefits are expansive. Add cacao to your diet to amp up your intake of antioxidants, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus, improve the health of your brain and skin, and increase your happiness!
And finally, we add coconut oil, with it's ridiculously long list of health benefits such as antimicrobial properties (they kill viruses and bad bacteria in the body) and it's ability to help you better absorb important nutrients. Not to mention coconut oil provides a healthy fat that will keep you fuller longer.
So without further ado, here's your cardamom cacao milk recipe:
1 can coconut milk or cream
2 tbsp cacao powder
1 tsp maca powder
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
1/2 tsp coconut oil
Simply heat up your coconut milk (or cream for extra thick) on the stove and mix in the ingredients. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!
